Al
November 17 2018

This is Al. He is 3.

Here he is with his family - three generations of which live on a small plot in Serang. He is the son of Isah (not pictured). Sita (pr. Sheeta, in the pink T-shirt) is his aunt, Isah's sister. She comes to BGBJ every week to learn English and play with her friends. Dayat, pictured at the back, is Sita and Isah's brother.

The grandfather, whom Resa calls Bapak Lana, and his wife, Mama Lana, are very diligent and work hard to provide for their family. As I met them, she was sitting behind us, sorting plastic bottles.

With 7 sisters, Al, Dayat, and the parents, there are 10 people in the family.

Isah (who is about 19-20 now) is Al's mum, and Nani is Isah's younger sister. Nani didn't go to school last year because she stayed at home to help look after Al.

They are a hardworking family - they don't expect any money from anyone and never ask for money or anything else.
