Dona, 32
November 14 2018
As we walked through Sumur Batur, Dona shouted hello and invited me in to her shop really enthusiastically and gave me coffee and mango, jack fruit and cake,
She can speak some English because she had lived in Dubai working as a maid for a while. She said her boss in Dubai was a good person and she enjoyed working there, but now she is much happier because she has her husband and family.
She returned to Bantar Gebang two years ago for a break, and decided to stay when she fell in love with Demes. Now she runs the shop selling snacks, coffee, noodles and so on, and is expecting their first child.
She was very proud to practise English in front of her husband and the other people there. Demes said he couldn't believe his wife could speak English and he was so proud to see her doing it.
